Is it a treatment that one of your competitor salons is doing and you think that maybe you should be too? Be careful here and go back to the first question. Is this what MY client’s want? Or is it what I want so as to add some competition to the market?
Is it a passing trend or fad treatment (we have all fallen for these) that will come and go? Where money was spent on product and training and now everyone has moved on?
Treatments need longevity if you are going to invest in training, product and marketing. Also everyone has to be onboard. As you know we all have our favourite treatments that we will sell more easily than others and your clients need to be up for it. Create a buzz. Have a look and learn session to showcase your new treatment. Blast your socials. Talk about it in the salon.
How much is this new treatment going to cost? How much is training, product and staff. Costing the treatment should be paramount to the price you are going to charge. Is it high end that requires leasing or getting a loan for equipment? You may do a few treatments but the price is reflective of this and it is still worth investing in? Or is it a treatment that many will book in for and you recoup your expenses quickly with little ongoing cost of treatment?
New treatments can add a bit of sparkle to your salon team as they will feel valued to learn new skills and techniques. Clients will see that you are progressive and keeping up with this fast paced industry.
